Description

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest comprise three unique swashbuckling third-person action/adventure video games in which players engage in action that reflects the cunning world of the film franchise -- with an abundance of disloyalty, humor and revenge.

The PSP system version, BVG’s first game for the platform, offers gamers the opportunity to control Captain Jack Sparrow. Players can utilize strength and speed attacks to take down enemies as well as “dirty moves,” typical of pirate fighting. The PSP system version also features multiplayer ship battles for up to four players via local wireless. Ship battle gameplay contains 10 maps and offers GameShare mode (only one game disc needed to play on multiple PSP systems).

Features

Combat and Controls

Button symbols appear above enemies to aid in fighting throughout Easy Mode and the first level only on Medium and Hard. The symbols disappear after the first level on Medium and Hard.

The game has multiple alternate weapons and methods of killing enemies in addition to swordplay. These include dropping rocks and chandeliers on them, smashing bottles over their heads or throwing bombs to take out groups of enemies. Use the environment to take out enemies or push down on the D-pad to use an alternate weapon after it's acquired.

Power Moves let Jack clear rooms of enemies quicker and more efficiently.

Jack can block enemy attacks by holding the X Button.

Basic Gameplay

There are several unique fights. The main unique fight is the boss battle against the Kraken. Other fights are against Will and Norrington.

Treasure Arenas let you get in, play for a little while, then quit and still make progress, possibly unlocking new moves or abilties.

Multiplayer

Acheiving 100% completion of the single-player game unlocks the Black Pearl in multiplayer.

The Flying Dutchman can be used in multiplayer during Last Man Standing matches only, as a way of getting revenge when you're one of the first ships taken out.

Music

The game has a unique score and includes some music from the film.
